It lasts a long time: I have been using it after every hair wash, and I have had the same bottle for almost one and a half years (!).
As for the downsides (or peculiarities, depending on one's perspective):
- It provides a weak hold. I can't achieve any particular hairstyle solely with this lotion.
- It slightly reduces volume, so it's important not to use too much and not to apply it to the roots. It should be spread only along the length of the hair.
- Hands need to be washed with soap after applying the lotion.
